News has been received of the death of Captain Ronald G. Lyne, aged 29, who died of wounds on 28th August.
"Buddy,'' as he was known to his friends, was stationed at Hay soon after the establishment of the camp, as a medical officer. He was very popular in Hay being a very cheery personality and an unassuming gentleman who always paid heed to the welfare of the men under him. He was, like most young Diggers, impatient at his spell in camp so far from action, and we well remember how excited he was when he got his 'X' number which meant he was marked for overseas service. After seeing service in the Middle East. Capt. Lyne returned to Australia some months ago and has since seen service in the Pacific area where he received his fatal wounds.
Capt. Lyne's parents live in Sydney, and much sympathy has been expressed locally for them in their sad loss.
