Lieutenant Murray Hay Macdowell, son of the late Mr Hay Macdowell
and Mrs. Alice Macdowell, is reported to have lost his life on July 21 last while a prisoner of war on Ambon. Lieut Macdowell was educated at Brighton Grammar School, and afterwards joined the staff of the E. S. and A Bank. A member of the University Rifles, he enlisted in June, 1940, and was a member of the 2/21st Battalion.
