Son of Alfred and Nina Isabel Mantle; husband of Edwina Geraldine Mantle, of Potts Point, New South Wales, Australia.

HUSBAND OF PEGGY REMEMBERED "WITH PROUD THANKSGIVING"

The relatives of WX11455 Pte Alfred Norman Mantle have been informed that he is now a prisoner of war in Siam. Previously reported missing, he was a member of a West  Australian machine-gun battalion and was well known in local scouting and Toc H circles.

MANTLE.--A tribute to our brother Scout (Norm). who was prior to Joining the forces Group Scoutmaster of No 18. Shenton Perk Group; now reported died of illness whilst POW in Japanese hands on or about January 15. 1944. Inserted by the Boy Scouts' Association.
He was one of the best.


MANTLE.-Sacred to the memory of a true and faithful friend, Alfred Norman Mantle. died while a prisoner of war in Japanese hands. Inserted by his sorrowing friend, D. Harry  Malone.
He died that we might live.
A soldier and a Christian gentleman.
