Son of William Henry and Anastasia Ellen Maroney of Young, NSW
Flight Sergeant William Henry Maroney 439481 of Number 36 Squadron was riding on the running board of RAAF tender 11065 on the tarmac area at Garbutt airfield at 0545
The door of the tender flew open and FSGT Maroney was thrown to the ground, sustaining severe head injuries. He was immediately conveyed to Number 3 Medical Receiving Station, where he died at 1145 hours
