Personal Stories
John McCann
John had reenlisted for WWII, having made a life for himself in Red Cliffs, VIC after having already served in WWI. The family story is that he had reenlisted only because his son, Donald, had enlisted (possibly underage). According to John's death notice, he had been killed by an intruder at base camp while he was on patrol. He had been shot in his arm and the opposite leg, while attempting to wrestle the intruders gun away.
