Biography

Ernest Desmond McGEARY was born on 10th October 1919 in Landsborough, Victoria - no father listed - mother Isabella McGEARY

His Mother Isabella later married Harry BURT in 1928 in Victoria

He had previously enlisted on 2nd Nov. 1939 in the Army - Service No. VX4917 as a private in the 2/8 Battalion and was discharged on 16th Feb. 1940 (CMF)

He re-enlisted on 21st May, 1941 as a private with the 2/29 Infantry Battalion

Ernest died of Malaria on 21st June, 1945 in Borneo -- burial place not known - his name is listed on the Labuan Memorial
