Having survived the Battle for Singapore, McGlinn was taken POW of Japan 15 Feb 1942 and accommodated Selarang Camp and Barracks, Changi.
14 March 1943 Don McGlinn departed Singapore Railway with 'D' Force S Battalion for Thailand and Burma-Thai Railway. 'D' Force worked around the Hellfire Pass Cutting with the most challenging terrain of the railway.
