Born 5 December 1919, in Ballina, New South Wales

Father Frederick Maurice Miller (dairy farmer) and Mother Gertrude Miller, living at Main Street,
Nimbin, NSW.

Harold attended Ballina Intermediate High School (1932-1935) and Lismore High School
(1935-198); followed by completing Intermediate Certificate and Primary Final Examination
at Department of Eductation.

His interests were Baseball, Cricket, Swimming and Tennis.  He represented in Baseball and Cricket.

Harold lived at Caniaba, Lismore, NSW, prior to enlisting.

Described on enlisting as 21yrs 1mth old; single; 5' 6" tall; 126 lbs;
fair complexion; grey eyes; light brown hair; Presbyterian

he completed his RAAF training

13/11/1941  embarked at Sydney, NSW for UK

13/12/1941  embarked from Canada, for the United Kingdom

17/4/1942    promoted to Flight Sergeant

28/4/1942    Warrant Officer with No. 461 Squadron RAAF, at Mount Batten, England

1942            Pembroke Dock, Wales. Crew of aircraft "A for Apple" of No. 461 (Sunderland)
                   Squadron RAAF based at an RAF Station.

17/4/1943    ranked Temporary Warrant Officer with No.461 Squadron

In 1943 this squadron commenced operations against German submarines in the Bay of Biscay,
and it was on one such operation that his aircraft went missing. WO Miller was declared Presumed
Dead on 13 August 1943.

13/8/1943    killed in flying battle over Bay of Biscay

No known grave.

His name is commemorated on Panel 191 at the Air Forces Memorial, Runnymede, Surrey, England.

His name is also commemorated on Panel 108 at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, ACT.
