Crew member of Sunderland B/461 Squadron under the command of F.H .Bunce which was attacked by 9 German Ju88's and shot down .When the aircraft ditched into the sea he escaped the sinking aircraft and was on the wing of the aircraft with other crew members but was washed off the wing by the heavy swell and drowned
