Oswald Kitchener NEWLING was born in Leederville, Western Australia on 10th June 1915

His parents were William John NEWLING & Lillian Mary WALKER

He married Kathleen Mary WILLIAMS in Perth, WA in 1936

He died of Malaria whilst a prisoner of war in Thailand on 22nd October, 1943 and is buried in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery

His father William John NEWLING served during WW1 (5536) & WW2 (27457) and was discharged in 1942

Two of his brothers also served during WW2 and were both Prisoners of War who lost their lives

1. Rexford Frank NEWLING (WX8432) died of Malaria on 29th September, 1943

2. Rolf Walker NEWLING (8865) died during a death march on 13th June 1945

Another brother John Gordon (Jack) NEWLING died in a motor cycle accident in WA on 22nd June 1946
