Leading Aircraftman Oliver James Nichols 14236 and Leading Aircraftman Frederick George Pike 411639 were killed when Cessna Crane 8129 from Number 3 Service Flying Training School RCAF crashed near Calgary Municipal Airport, Canada after taking part in a target training exercise at Lake McGregor, Alberta, Canada - also killed was Sergeant Harold Ernest Pitt (Instructor Pilot) R/68214 RCAF
During their final descent the aircraft suddenly lost altitude, crashing to the ground - a later investigation into the accident suggested that the occupants lost consciousness and subsequent control of the aircraft due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
