Leslie John Norton joined the RAAF as a fighter pilot in December 1942 and served in a RAAF Spitfire Squadron until June 1945 when he transferred to the RAN Fleet Air Arm
Sub Lieutenant Leslie John Norton of 801 Squadron lost his life in a Seafire XV whilst doing an air display at Schofields
The accident was initially blamed on pilot error, but an investigation found that at high speeds the Seafire was subject to aileron reversal which could result in wing spar failure.
