O.S. Philip James Oakford, another member of the Sydney's crew, is the youngest of three brothers serving in the Royal Australian Navy. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Oakford, of Franklin. He enlisted at the age of WA and had served in the Sydney 16 months.
