Corporal Harry Douglas Palmer (Service No:V150148) enlisted on 19 May 1941 and was attached to AASC 4th Division. He was a Private with 39th Infantry Battalion when he embarked from Sydney on 27 December 1941 for Port Moresby, where he served as a Corporal with the Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit. Initally reported as MiA, Corporal Palmer was KiA on 8 August 1942.

Born in 1920 in Warrnambool Victoria, Harry was the youngest of two children of George Charles Palmer (b1866 in Tarraville, Victoria) and second wife Gertrude Mary Miller (b1885 at Warracknabeal, Victoria. George (a Carpenter) and Gertrude (a Saleswoman) married in 1913 in Warrnambool, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and George was a Carpenter.

Harry was working as a Grocer when he enlisted in 1941.
