Son of John and Isabella Baldie, Valley, Brisbane, Queensland. Native of Victoria, Australia

His older brother 88 Corporal David William Baldie, 6th Light Horse Regiment, died of wounds inflicted at Gallipoli only four weeks later, aboard a hospital ship, and was buried at sea. He was 22 years old. The brothers were the only two sons of their parents.
