William Hawksley Philp married Violet Adele Maud Lehrke on 29th January 1930 in East Perth, Western Australia. Violet (Verna) and their three children were residing in Collie when Bill enlisted on 13th August 1940, later being assigned 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion, Headquarter Company No. 3.
After his death Violet (Verna) Philp remarried in 1948 and was widowed again on 22nd June 1959 when her husband Charles Arthur Budd died aged 38 years.
Verna died on 12th October 1987 in The District Hospital Collie, Western Australia, aged 76 years and was interred on 15th October 1987 in the
Anglican Portion of Collie Cemetery, Western Australia.
