"...VX105096 Private (Pte) Norman Clarence Piper, 2/16 Battalion, of Northcote Vic. Pte Piper was a cabinet maker prior to enlistment and served in New Guinea. He died in Charters Towers, Qld, as a result of an accident on 28 September 1944. He was 38 years of age." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
