Lockheed Hudson A16-190 of 32SQN crashed into the sea off the Beverley Islands (part of the Northumberland Group) south-east of the city of Mackay while carrying out a convoy escort anti-submarine patrol for HMAS Swan - all crew were lost:

Pilot Officer John Desmond Power 416230 - Son of Francis and Mary Power of Reade Park, SA (body recovered by the crew of HMAS Swan, buried in Townsville War Cemetery)

Flying Officer Arthur Ernest Adams 692 - Son of Arthur George and Dora Emily Adams (body not recovered, he is memorialised on the Panel 5 of the Sydney Memorial)

Sergeant Brian Robert Bright 407841 - Son of Henry Garrood Bright and Mary Margaret Bright of Broken Hill, NSW (body not recovered, he is memorialised on the Panel 6 of the Sydney Memorial)

Sergeant Beverley Kilgour Chandler 21351 - Son of Wallace Dorman Chandler and Elizabeth Emily Chandler of Newcastle, NSW (body not recovered, he is memorialised on the Panel 6 of the Sydney Memorial)
