Corporal Harold Stanley Quine (Service No:19512) enlisted in the Army as a Private with 11 Training Battalion on 2 June 1941 and was posted to 2nd/31st Infantry Battalion on 11 September 1941. Private Quine served in Egypt and New Guinea before embarking for Balikapan, Borneo (via Port Moresby) on 23 July 1943. He was promoted to Corporal on 18 September 1944 and was WiA at Balikapan (a penetrating bullet wound to the chest) on 20 February 1945. Corporal Quine Died of Wounds on 10 July 1945 and was first buried at Balikapan.

Born at Ravenswood QLD in 1910, Harry was the eldest of four children of Stanley Tynald Quine (b1882 in QLD) and Florence Jane Deans (b1892 in QLD). Stanley (a Blacksmith with the Railways) and Florence married in 1909 in Cloncurry, QLD and lived in Cloncurry, Ravensthorpe and the Northern Territory before settling in Brisbane where Stanley was a Labourer.

Harry worked as a Labourer and Brick Burner in Brisbane before his senlistment in the Army.
