DIED WHILE POW
Pte Charles Rankin, only son of Mr and Mrs. A. Rankin, of Norford
gr, Kooyong, has died in a POW camp in Malaya. Pte Rankin left Australia as a member of the 2/29th Btn, and was captured in February, 1942.
No word had been received by his parents since December, 1943,
until recently, when a fellow member of his unit conveyed news of his
death. Educatad at St Paul's Cathedral School, Pte Rankin subsequently became a member of the staff of the Myer Emporium. He was keenly interested in music, and was well known in orchestral circles.
