Son of Richard John RICE and Betsy Alice RICE (nee HOURD), of Manjimup, Western Australia.
Father Richard (born April 1981 in Broken Hill, NSW) served in WWI as a Gunner with 8th Field Artillery Brigade (22443).
Mother Betsy Alice also served in WWI as a Nurse with the British Emperial Forces.
Brother Richard John RICE (born 24/06/1920) served in WWII (W85836) as a Private with 14 KARRI Battalion VDC (Volunteer Defence Corp).
