Thomas served in the militia as Thomas William Roach initially as N130719 from 8-7-1941. Two months later on the 1-9-1942, he appears to have tried to reenlist as Thomas William ROACH N279788
On the 20-5-1942 a warrant was issued for desertion under his N130719 service number however in the meantime he had travelled to Victoria and enlisted in the AIF under an alias, William ROACH VX79459 .
Thomas aka William, apparently served four years with the 2/9 Armoured Regiment however this cannot be confirmed as his VX79459 file hasn’t been digitized yet. He died from injuries received in a car accident in 1946 and was buried at the Wagga War cemetery.
