GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS THAT HE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Robb, of Five Bough, Leeton, were last week officially notified that their son, Pte. Lindsay Walter Robb, died of illness (dysentry) whilst a prisoner of war in Thailand Camp on 26th December, 1943.
Lindsay was born at Leeton and enlisted in July, 1940, when he was 19 years of age; he was then in the local militia. Prior to enlisting he was employed in the mercery department of S. Richards and Co., at Leeton. Like his brother Allan, he was well known as a bagpipe player and was a member of the Leeton Pipe Band. He gained honours with his pipes in Malaya when he ran into the finals in a contest held there. Lindsay is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Robb who has paid the supreme sacrifice in this war, Cpl. Allan Robb being killed in action in Malaya on January 22, 1942.
Mrs. J. Anderson, of Leeton, is a sister of the late Pte. Robb. His brothers are Arthur, of Canowindra; Neville, schoolteacher at Barellan; Don, at Griffith; Ralph, who is a corporal with the R.A.A.F. in New Guinea, and Bruce, a motor mechanic at Leeton.
