Three members of Number 7 Mobile Works Squadron were killed on board LST 122 (Landing Ship, Tank) during a landing practice. An elevator used to lift light vehicles to the upper deck from the well deck malfunctioned near Cape Cretin, Finschhafen, Papua New Guinea
