14 Apr 1940: Embarked Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, VX6232, 2nd/8th Infantry Battalion, On the 14th April 1940 he Embarked Melbourne for the Middle East with the 2/8 Infantry Battalion AIF.
18 May 1940: Embarked Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, VX6232, 2nd/8th Infantry Battalion, On the 18th May 1940 he Disembarked at Kantara, Egypt with the 2/8 Infantry Battalion AIF.
5 Jun 1940: Transferred Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, Detention Barracks, On the 5th June 1940 in Tel Aviv, he was Detained for 28 Days at the 1st Australian Detention Barracks, Kilo 89 as he used Violence to resist arrest causing injury whilst being placed in Custody.
31 Mar 1941: Embarked Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, VX6232, 2nd/8th Infantry Battalion, On the 31st March 1941 he Embarked from Alexandria bound for Greece & the Isle of Crete with the 2/8 Infantry Battalion AIF.
27 May 1941: Wounded Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, VX6232, 2nd/8th Infantry Battalion, The Battle for Crete - May 1941, In late May 1941 he was reported Missing whilst fighting the Germans in defending the Isle of Crete. Known as "The Battle for Crete"
29 May 1941: Wounded Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, VX6232, 2nd/8th Infantry Battalion, The Battle for Crete - May 1941, On the 16th June 1941 the 5th Field Ambulance New Zealand Division reported that on the 29th May 1941 Private VX6232, Arthur Schmidt, died from wounds received in "The Battle for Crete". He made the ultimate sacrifice whilst fighting with the ANZACS & defending a Foreign Country.
