Son of David and Sarah Ann Seater; husband of Joyce Seater, of Gerang Gerung, Victoria.
Charlie came to Gerang as a school boy with his brother Les and he made his home at Dick and Nellie McPhee's at Gerang. Charlie had his schooling at Gerang and on leaving school he later worked for the Victorian Railways at Dimboola starting as a fireman and later became a train driver.
Charlie enlisted into the Army and before leaving for the Islands he married Joyce Shalders, a daughter of Ern and Flo Shalders of Gerant.
He was a Military Police M.P. in the 2/22nd Battalion and was sent to rabaul in New Britain and on the 23rd January 1942 Japanese troops landed on Rabaul, seven hours later the Australians were outnumbered and retreated into the jungle. Charlie's fate is believed to be unknown.
