Leading Aircraftman Irwin Jack Shaw 413494 was killed in the loss of Fairey Battle 2022 from Number 9 Bombing & Gunnery School RCAF - the aircraft crashed at high speed during a training exercise over the shore of the St Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada
Also killed were Pilot Officer (Pilot) Arthur Francis Halamka C/7558 RCAF (from Milwaukee) / LAC Kenneth George Weal 413287 RNZAF (wireless operator-air gunner trainee) / Corporal Clarence James Rooke R/120501 RCAF (Instructor)
