Son of Christoph Uhlman and Esther Uhlmann nee Whalley of Hemmant, QLD. Brother of Christopher Uhlmann who was killed in action on 21 July 1917 while serving with the Australian Field Artillery, 101st Battery and is buried in Reninghelst New Military Cemetery, Plot 3, Row E, Grave 27.
Commenced return to Australia on 15 February 1918 aboard HT llanstephan Castle disembarking on 16 April 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
