23 May 1942:	Involvement Royal Australian Air Force, Flight Sergeant, 422656, No. 467 Squadron (RAAF), Allan was a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner and he last left Waddington RAF Base in England with seven other aircraft for a bombing raid on Calais in France at 1781 hours on the 24th September, 1944. He was in the crew of Lancaster DV171, call sign PO-O, with six others. Nearing their target they were hit by German anti aircraft fire at around 1930 hours, which damaged their port inner engine causing the aircraft to dive. Five of the crew were able to parachute out, but the Captain and Allan were unable to leave the aircraft as it was too low, and both died when the aircraft impacted the ground.
