The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at Wr" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer page 209. Prior to the war Leonard was a labourer of Sydney NSW. He enlisted into the AIF in NSW, hence the NX regimental number, and subsequently was transferred into the 2nd/16th Inf Bn, and served there as a private soldier. Unfortunately, he was Killed In Action h Oct 1943. Rest In Peace. Lest We Forget.
