De Havilland Dragon aircraft A34-2 from Number 1 Air Observers School crashed 2 miles SW of Cootamundra after it stalled in a turn resulting in a spin, it then hit the ground and burst into flames killing all crew on board:

"STANLEY.- On November 11 at Cootamundra result of air accident. Leading-Aircraftman James Clifford, dearly loved younger son of Richard Clifford and Jessie Margaret Stanley of 21 Mercer Parade, Newtown, Geelong and loving brother of Valma and Trooper John S, aged 24 years."
