Bandsman Horace John Stevens, of the Sydney, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Stevens, New Town, and recently of West Hobart. He had been in the navy five years, and was a member of the Sydney's crew for nearly three years. He leaves a wife (formerly Miss Jennie Webb) and two young sons, who live in Launceston.
