Rupert Theophilus Drage was born in Beetaloo, South Australia, on the 3rd of October 1887. His parent were father, William Charles Drage and mother, Jane Elizabeth Hunt. As per his later attestation Papers, he stated his religious denomination as the Church of Englandl. Rupert worked as a Civil Servant before enlistingr. He was the age of 27 at the time of enlistment, which was on the 20th of July 1915.
Theophilus embarked from Australia to England on HMAT Geelong A2 18th November 1915. He served in the Middle East until June 1916 when he proceeded to France. He took leave at the beginning of 1917 and travelled to the UK rejoining his unit 23rd January 1917. He was appointed Lance Corporal and then Temporary Corporal in July 1918. He attended cookery school later that month and was promoted to Sergeant Cook 25th August 1918.
Rupert returned to Australia 10th July 1919 and was discharged 29th September 1919. He died in 1958 at Pinnaroo and was buried at Murray Bridge. He is honoured on the WWI and WWII honour boards of the Adelaide South Australian Railways.
