Herbert's first love was Bella Bell of Collie WA, who he had gotten pregnant with a son, John Bell. Herbert had intentions to marry Bella, but his and or her parents disagreed to marriage, and I believe Herbert went to war at 17yrs.
Herbert obviously died while at war, and Bella married Jack Rupert Jones of Collie, who had three children to a previous partner, and who Bella went on to have six children with.
