His parents were Robert THOMSON & Mary Ann Aitken McCONKEY who married in the Registry Office in Glasgow, Scotland on 28th March, 1902

His Father Robert served  in the Army Service Corp in Scotland during WW1 and was previously in the 71st Foot Regiment - Robert & wife Mary came to Australia in 1920 on the ship Marathon with their children William, Thomas, Elizabeth & Helen
