7 Mar 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, Menin Road, During the attack on Polygon Wood east of Ypres G.O.C. on September 20th 1917 this NCO did excellent work. He took part in the capture of FitzClarence Farm and led his men with great skill and determination until the objective was gained. On the night of 20th/21st he he lead a patrol out in from of the line, broke up a hostile post, which was giving us trouble, killed the Officer in Charge and brought his body for identification purposes. 3 Jun 1919: | Honoured Military Cross, The Battle of Amiens, For conspicuous gallantry and able leadership during the attack north of Rosiers, on 9th August 1918. In charge of a platoon, he led his men forward under heavy fire and carried his objective. During the attack on Lihons, on 11th August, he again took his objective in face of strong opposition, and when the enemy counter attacked he led his platoon over the top with the bayonet and threw them into confusion.
