Joseph Todd

My maternal grandfather Joseph Todd born 21 December 1896 at Leichardt, Sydney, N.S.W. He enlisted on the 10 January 1916 as James Todd Service No. 4276 and was posted to B Company of the 2nd Pioneer Battalion. He served in France from 14 July 1916 until 31 March 1919 rising from a private to the rank of L/Sgt.

He first enlisted in WW2 at Rockhampton, QLD, on 20 June 1940 as QX8497 and was discharged on the 27 August 1941.

He then enlisted at Paddington, N.S.W. on 01 November 1941 as NX50008 and was posted to the 2/19th Australian Infantry Battalion.

He arrived in Singapore on the 26 January 1942 and like many others missing after the Japanese attacked Singapore on the 08 February 1942, he was given the presumed date of death of 15 February 1942.
