Son of Charles Henry Toms and Martha Toms; husband of Nellie Jane Toms, of Sale, Victoria.

Private Howard Toms enlisted from Lancaster, where he was employed by Mr. Frank Goode.  He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Toms of Wyua Road, Kyabram, and was born at Sandown, Isle of Wight, England.  He was educated at Sandown Secondary School.  He came to Australia with his parents 20 years ago.  About 10 years ago he married Miss Nellie Gartner, of Kyabram, and he is survived by a grief stricken widow and two children, Marie and Cecil.
