AC Vanstone drowned while swimming with other airmen at Werribee, Victoria. He set out to cross the wide swimming hole but when half-way across he got into difficulties. After police had dragged the pool without success a diver from Queenscliff was used to recover the body from the river bed.
Biography
Son f Leonard William Philip VANSTONE and Stella nee BATEUP
LAC Ronald Vanstone RAAF aged 20. Son of Mrs S Vanstone of 5 Cedar Avenue Croydon. Educated at Yorketown Higher Primary School, gaining his QC at age 13. Very keen on shooting. In civil life was a motor mechanic employed by Mr Hector McLenna. Was a member of the Yorketown Methodist Order of Knights. Enlisted on 8th April 1941 and lost his life at Werribee River, Victoria on 27th February 1943 and is buried at Springvale, Victoria.
