Gunner James Edmund Alexander Coffee (Service No:39406) was a Farmer at Millewa via Tottenham NSW in January 1918 when he enlisted in the AIF. He was hospitalised with pneumonia on board HMAT Port Darwin en route for Southampton, and served with 34th Field Artillery in England. He was attached to Field Artillery Brigades when he was Discharged in February 1919.

The fifth of nine children, James was born in 1897 in Moama NSW to George Robert Coffee (b1851 in Alberton, South Australia) and Rose Littlewood (b1871 in Meningie, South Australia). George was a Farmer in Moama NSW when he and Rose married in 1887. By 1919 the family were living in Millewa nr Tottenham, NSW where George was a Farmer on Oaklands Farm.

James was a Farmer on Oaklands Farm at Millewa NSW in 1921 when he married Amy Beatrice Sales (b1893 in Liverpool, NSW). James and Amy settled in Gunning, Eden Monaro NSW where James was a Roller Driver. In the late 1930s the couple moved to Sydney NSW where James worked as a Labourer and Driver. Following their Divorce, James remarried in 1952 - Bertha Nellie Woolf (nee Cohen; b1906 in Sydney, NSW) - Nellie was a Widow. James and Bertha lived in Bankstown, Sydney NSW, where James died in 1972. Bertha died in 1997.
