George's cause of death
The report of my uncle George's death in Malaya (as it then was) is as follows:
"Killed as the result of fall of sand on Jemaluang - Mersing Roads.
Court of Enquiry - death due to blocking of trachea with sand causing suffocation. Death accidental, not due to misconduct or attributable to any person. Death was not result of self-inflicted wound. Deceased died while on duty."
The circumstances are set out in a letter from George's mate who survived the accident, and from his Brigadier who write of the accident and the dignified ceremony afforded George. Both are attached in the "Links & Documents" section.
