Squadron Leader Watt 273 in Kittyhawk FL292 of 3SQN was killed when his aircraft was shot down east of Zuara in Libya - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt
He was in a group of ten Kittyhawk fighters from 3SQN that took off to attack 2 German ships in the Mediterranean Sea north of Ben Gardane in Tunisia - 8 enemy aircraft were encountered 4 miles east of Zuara off the coast of Libya with SQNLDR Watt being shot down
