MOREE "BOY"
PRESUMED TO BE DEAD.
Mr. ad Mrs. D. Weir of "Glenoak", Ashley Road, has been notified by the army authorities that their son, Private Clarence Roy Weir, who was reported missing on February 9, 1942 at Singapore, is now presumed to be dead. The late Private Weir enlisted 1940, and sailed for Singapore on the Queen Elizabeth with the first contingent. From Singapore he went to Malaya, but later returned to Singapore, where he was reported to be missing.
The deceased, who was 20 years of age at the time of his death, was born and educated in Moree. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers and six sisters. The brothers are Messrs Alex Weir (Moree) and Herbert James Weir (Bellata), who offered their services but were rejected. The sisters are Mrs. Smith (East Moree), Mrs Rae (Sydney), and the Misses Gladys Weir (Moree), Olive Weir (Moree), Evelyn Weir (Garah), and Kathleen Weir (Sydney), who was a member of the A.W.L.A.
