LAC Bernard Bede Sutton 403769 RAAF and LAC John Witts 411569 RAAF of Number 1 Air Observers School based at RCAF Malton, Ontario were killed in the loss of Avro Anson training aircraft 6831 near Montreal, Ontario, Canada - both men are commemorated on the Ottawa Memorial in Ontario, Canada

Also killed were LAC Alexander McDonald Morgan R/102709 RCAF and Mister CB Rutherford (Civilian pilot - contractor)

The brother of LAC Witts was accidentally killed after returning to Australia from operations in August 1945 - Pilot Officer Geoffrey Paul Witts 424252 of 459SQN
