Ron had a "job of sorts" lighting the ten or so street lamps in South West Rocks, he also lit the red and green beacons below Rudders Hill that provided navigational aid to the vessels entering or leaving the Macleay River. Ron was a frequent "casual" when the circus or fair came to town. Ron also had a pleasant singing voice and was regarded as a first class yodeller.
