Norman Preston WOMERSLEY was born on 19th May, 1906 in Colac, Victoria to Frank WOMERSLEY and Laura Kathleen Natalia WALKER
In 1933 he married Edna WYNNE and had three children - Judy, Wendy & Rex
He enlisted with the Australian Army on 26th August, 1941 & was with the 2/21st Australian Infantry Battalion (Gull Force) (see link for further details about Gull Force)
Norman was amongst other members of his battalion who were taken prisoner by the Japanese & held at Tan Tui POW Camp
He died on 16th July, 1946 at Ambon in the East Indies of the disease Beri Beri & is buried in Ambon War Cemetery - his name is memorialised on the Roll of Honour in Melbourne, The Australian War Memorial, Ballarat Ex Prisoners of War memorial & the Roll of Honour at Ambon War Cemetery
His Battalion (2/21st Infantry (Gull Force) was given Battle Honours (30th January 1942 to 4th February, 1942 for the defence of Ambon
His brother Alan Seymour WOMERSLEY (RAAF - SWPA) Serial No. 53499 also served and returned to Australia
