"Dalby Man Killed at Stanthorpe - Truck Overturns 

Mervyn WORLAND (19), a native of Dalby and a member of the military Forces stationed between Stanthorpe and Wallangarra, was killed instantly when a military truck overturned near Stanthorpe about 9 p.m. on Saturday night. Three other men in the vehicle were severely injured and were taken to Stanthorpe Hospital. It is only a few months ago that the late Mr. WORLAND was married to Miss Valma GRANT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William GRANT, of Garrow Street, Dalby." - from the Dalby Herald 03 Dec 1946 (nla.gov.au)

Mervyn WORLAND played Rugby League for the All Blacks "A" grade team in 1946. He was also selected in the Dalby team to play representative football against Roma.

Mervyn was the nineth child of Robert Amos A & Delia (nee SOLWAY) WORLAND. His son Leam was born soon after Mervyn was killed.
