Son of T Jarvis, Yarrawa Street, Sebastopol Ballarat, Victoria
Arthur Edward Jarvis (SN 3369) was born in Rutherglen but attended the Sebastopol State School. He was a 19-year-old, single, Carpenter when he enlisted on 7th July 1915. He joined the 14th Infantry Battalion and sailed from Melbourne in October. He underwent further training in Egypt until tragedy struck. He was off duty when he went swimming in the Suez Canal with two other soldiers on 15th May 1916. He dived in and struck his head, fracturing his skull, and died soon after. He is buried in the lsmailia Military Cemetery, Cairo, Egypt.
