Sidney Lutrell/ Luttrell LANDSBOROUGH was born on 21st December, 1873 in Brisbane, Queensland

His parents were William LANDSBOROUGH who came from Scotland and Maria Theresa CARR (nee CARTER) who married on 8th March, 1873 in Brisbane, Queensland

Sidney was known as an all round sportsman excelling as a rower, footballer & swimmer

He was from Yeppoon, Rockhampton when he joined the 2nd Queensland Mounted Infantry in Rockhampton which left Brisbane on the 13th January, 1900 on the ship Maori King (2nd Contingent)

Sidney died of Pneumonia & Enteric Fever on 15th June 1900 in Johannesberg, South Africa and is buried in Braamfontein cemetery

His father William who died in 1886 was living in Loch Lamerough and his mother Maria lived in Curraghbower, Toowong, Brisbane

DEATH OF A QUEENSLANDER

The relatives of Private Sidney L. Landsborough of the second Queensland Contingent, have received the sad news of his death in South Africa from enteric fever.

A cable to that effect was received from Colonel Hutchison, the commanding officer on Wednesday, but it was not stated where his death tok place.  Private Landsborough who joined the contingent in Rockhamtpon was well known in sporting circles in Brisbane and at one time held the medal for the swimming championship of Queensland.  He was the son of the late William Landsborough, the well known explorer
