TROOPER MAIN.
The late Trooper Main was 24 years old, and a single man. His father is Mr. Walter Main, of Stonyfell, near Burnside. The young soldier was a butcher by occupation, and he had an idea that if he went to the war he would be able to secure "something good" in the way of a situation. In his last communication to his parents he referred to the prospect of his getting to the front. "We hope to have a little fun when we get there," he recently wrote. The deceased soldier was at one period of his life a member of the Oddfellows' order.
